Little Dancers - Boys & Girls 3-6

Little Dancers Program

Dance is fun and inspiring for students of all ages. Exposing young children to the art of dance also helps them develop spatial awareness, promotes Problem-solving, working with others and improves physical fitness. At the dance connection our little dancers program covers basic dance steps, tumbling, and creative movement. Concepts such as time, space, speed, distance, and direction are covered. Instructors use props music and imagery as teaching tools.

Tiger Dance is a movement class just for boys ages 3 - 4. This class teaches dance and movement using images, music and props appropriate for boys. The boys develop strength coordination, and flexibility. All boys are required to wear shorts that do not fall below the knee and a form fitting tank top. This class is taught by David Kieffer

Fairy Princess Dance for girls ages 3 - 4
This is a ballet/Tap combo class that uses props and imagery based on famous fairy tale princesses such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and others. All girls are required to wear pink tights, pink leotards, and bring pink ballet slippers and patent leather tap shoes. (3-year old classes do not do tap) These classes are taught by Samantha Wyland and Christina Cherry.

Combo Classes for boys and girls age 5 - 6 combines ballet with tap. These classes are taught by Samantha Wyland and Christina Cherry.

1st Grade Combo for girls combines ballet with jazz. This class is taught by Nadine Belnay.

Pre-ballet is for 6 year old who can't get enough ballet or wants to get a head start on his/her ballet training. Students begin to work within the professional structure of the ballet class. Using the barre and working towards simple combinations in the center. All girls are required to wear pink tights, black leotards and pink ballet slippers. All girls must have their hair in a bun so the neck is visible. This class s taught by Samantha Wyland.

Director: Christina Cherry
The Dance Connection is very fortunate to have Christina Cherry as the director of our Little Dancers program. Christina has danced all her life and has attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. She has a BS in psychology from Wilkes University and is certified in early childhood and elementary education in the state of New Jersey. She taught first grade from 1991-1998. Christina has been a staff member at The Dance Connection since 2004 incorporating her passion for dance with her love of teaching young children.
